NEW YORK (Reuters) – New York Mets pitcher Tom Murphy, who won the American League Cy Young Award in 2015, is in a position to be a part of a contending team.
A playoff spot in the NL East is not a guarantee, Murphy told reporters on Thursday.
But Murphy is one of a handful of Mets to win a Cy Young award and has a .933 winning percentage this season.
He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
In his four years in Cleveland, Murphy has a 3.47 ERA and .929 WHIP.
The 29-year-old has a career record of 18-14 with a 2.23 ERA in 140 career starts with Cleveland.
Murphy has a 2-1 record with a 0.87 ERA in 11 career starts against Boston.
